Temperatures tend to remain constant. Maximums hover between 31 and 33 °C (88 and 91 °F) and have never exceeded 37 °C (99 °F), while minimums hover between 22 and 23.5 °C (72 and 74 °F) and have never fallen below 19 °C (66 °F). Kuala Lumpur typically receives 2,266 mm (89.2 in) of rain annually; June and July are relatively dry, but even then rainfall typically exceeds 125 mm (5 in) per month.

Flooding is a frequent occurrence in Kuala Lumpur whenever there is a heavy downpour, especially in the city centre and downstream areas.[30] Dust particles from forest fires from nearby Sumatra sometimes cast a haze over the region. It is a major source of pollution in the city together with open burning, emission from motor vehicles and construction work.[31]

Live Weather Forecast of Kuala Lumpur

source: wikipedia.org.

Kuala Lumpur - Location :

A satellite view of Kuala Lumpur on Google Maps

Kuala Lumpur is situated midway along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, at the confluence of the Klang and Gombek rivers. Despite 69 of them dying due to the pestilential conditions, a thriving tin mine was established.

This naturally attracted merchants who traded basic provisions to the miners in return for some of the tin. The traders set up shop at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers. Thus, a city was born.

Chinese Kapitan Yap Ah Loy, the founding father of Kuala Lumpur

Gangs of Kuala Lumpur :

It was also during this time that gang warfare was at its peak. It erupted into a civil war between the two main Chinese gangs, the Hai San and Ghee Hin, of which the former that Yap Ah Loy was a member. Eventually, the Hai San won, and Yap Ah Loy then rebuilt the devastated town and repopulated it with more Chinese miners. He also brought in Malay farmers to settle near Kuala Lumpur to provide food for the miners. Under his leadership, Yah Ah Loy established Kuala Lumpur's first school and a shelter for the homeless, besides building up commercial activities. After a massive fire in 1881, Yah Ah Loy replaced traditional attap houses with brick and tile as a safety precaution.

After his death, Frank Swettenham the British Resident of Selangor, took over the helm of duties and continued to prosper Kuala Lumpur until World War II. During the war, the Japanese occupied the city but they eventually surrendered in 1945 to the British after their loss in the War.

<img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1f/Japanese_troops_mopping_up_in_Kuala_Lumpur.jpg" title="A scene during World War II on the streets of Kuala Lumpur. They used to sell that to other countries who needed the light weight metal to fuel their machines in the industrial revolution.

Thus in search, they found a spot somewhere in the east where there was a lot of tin, and they then built a ramshackle, thatched-roof village there. Unfortunately all of them died due to malaria.

This was a sad beginning of what was going to be one of the Asia's richest cities. Then following their steps other tin business men followed and thus many towns were set. This was the beginning of the towers and buildings in Malaysia.

Now coming to the secret point. There is a spot which is completely empty from where you can see the towers, buildings and the other infrastructural developments in Kuala Lampur like a report card graph.

Its located somewhere in the center of KL, where the Klang and the Gombak rivers flow swiftly together.

Its just a few feet away from where the rivers meet, the Jame Mosque rests in the middle of it. Its looks like the only thing old amongst all the space age buildings around it.

Not when you walk to the back of the mosque, you'll come across a grassy field...

Go to the southernmost edge and now you'll be at the point where the rivers join.

This is the secret spot.

You feel that the city has grown from this spot onwards.

If you ever visit the KL, make sure you try this out!

<iframe frameborder="0" height="350" marginheight="0"
